Itinerary

Day 1Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut

Your trek will  begin  at Nyakalengija, the starting point for Rwenzori treks, early in the morning where you will Meet your guide and porters, obtain permits, and set off on the trail. Trek through lush montane forest, surrounded by towering trees and vibrant birdlife. Marvel at the rich biodiversity of the forest as you make your way to Nyabitaba Hut, your overnight stop. Distance: Approximately 9 kilometers.

Duration: 4-6 hours.

Overnight stay at Nyabitaba Hut (2,652 meters).

Day 2Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut and Return to Nyakalengija

After breakfast, continue your trek further into the Rwenzori Mountains. Traverse through various vegetation zones, including heather and bamboo forests. Reach John Matte Hut, situated amidst the rugged beauty of the mountains. Spend some time exploring the surrounding area and taking in the awe-inspiring scenery. Begin your descent back to Nyakalengija, where your journey began. Bid farewell to your guides and porters before departing for your next destination.

Distance: Approximately 20 kilometers round trip.

Duration: 8-10 hours round trip.

1. More than 30 days before departure: You can cancel your trip for a full refund, minus a small administrative fee to cover processing costs.
2. Between 15 to 30 days before departure: We offer a 50% refund of the total trip cost, as we may have already incurred costs on your behalf.
3. Less than 15 days before departure: Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund as we will have committed resources to your trek by this time.
