Itinerary

Day 1Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut

Upon arrival in Nyakalengija, the starting point for Rwenzori treks, early in the morning, you will meet with your guide, porters, and obtain permits.

Begin the trek through lush montane forest, gradually ascending.

Reach Nyabitaba Hut, your overnight stop for the day.

Distance: Approximately 9 kilometers.

Duration: 4-6 hours.

Overnight stay at Nyabitaba Hut (2,652 meters).

Day 2Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut

After breakfast, continue your trek further into the Rwenzori Mountains.
Traverse through various vegetation zones, including heather and bamboo forests.
Pass through the Kurt Shaffer Bridge and cross the Bujuku River.
Arrive at John Matte Hut, situated in the heather zone.
Distance: Approximately 11 kilometers.
Duration: 6-7 hours.
Overnight stay at John Matte Hut (3,414 meters).

Day 3John Matte Hut to Nyakalengija and Departure

Enjoy breakfast at John Matte Hut before beginning your descent.
Retrace your steps back to Nyakalengija, completing your trek.
Say farewell to your guides and porters.
Transfer back to your accommodation or onward to your next destination or for your flight back.

Day 4End of the trek.

Please note that this itinerary provides a condensed experience of the Rwenzori Mountains and allows you to explore a portion of the trail. For a more comprehensive trek and to reach higher altitudes, consider extending the duration of your expedition. What is cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is designed to be as flexible and understanding as possible. If you need to cancel your trek for any reason, here’s what you can expect:

1. More than 30 days before departure: You can cancel your trip for a full refund, minus a small administrative fee to cover processing costs.
2. Between 15 to 30 days before departure: We offer a 50% refund of the total trip cost, as we may have already incurred costs on your behalf.
3. Less than 15 days before departure: Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund as we will have committed resources to your trek by this time.
