Hunwick Camp, situated in the Rwenzori Mountains National Park in Uganda, offers breath taking hiking opportunities. Our  route we  are referring, starting from Kilembe, is one of the popular trails in the Rwenzori Mountains. Here’s a basic itinerary for a 6-day hike from Kilembe to Hunwick Camp

Day 1: Kilembe to Sine Camp

Day 2: Sine Camp to Mutinda Camp

Day 3: Mutinda Camp to Bugata Camp

Day 4: Bugata Camp to Hunwick Camp

Day 5: Explore Hunwick Camp.

Day 6: Return to Kilembe

Day 1Kilembe to Sine Camp

Start your journey from Kilembe, which serves as the gateway to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park.  Hike to Sine Camp, the first campsite along the trail. This typically takes around 5-6 hours.

The trail winds through lush vegetation, passing through forests and crossing streams. Continue with the hike and arrive at Sine camp where you will set your camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2Sine Camp to Mutinda Camp

Enjoy your breakfast and depart from Sine Camp continuing your ascent towards Mutinda Camp. This leg of the journey usually takes about 4-5 hours.    Enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding landscape as you climb higher into the mountains. Continue with the hike arriving at Mutinda camp. This will give you a memorable trek. Dinner and overnight at Mutinda camp.

Day 3Mutinda Camp to Bugata Camp

Enjoy your breakfast and Leave Mutinda Camp and trek towards Bugata Camp. Expect the hike to take around 4-6 hours.  You will  pass through diverse terrain, including alpine meadows and rocky slopes. Continue with the hike arriving at Bugata camp where you will spend your overnight.

Day 4Bugata Camp to Hunwick Camp

Enjoy your breakfast and depart from Bugata Camp and make your way to Hunwick Camp.

This part of the journey typically takes around 5-6 hours. As you come close to  Hunwick Camp, you will  be rewarded with stunning vistas of the Rwenzori Mountains. Pinch your tent at Hunwick camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5Explore Hunwick Camp.

Enjoy your breakfast and  spend a day at Hunwick Camp exploring the surrounding area. Depending on your interests and energy levels, you can embark on shorter hikes or simply relax and soak in the natural beauty.  Dinner ad overnight at Hunwick camp.

Day 6Return to Kilembe

Enjoy your breakfast and begin your descent back to Kilembe from Hunwick Camp.

The hike back typically takes around 6-7 hours. Take your time to enjoy the final views of the mountains before concluding your trek.

What is cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is designed to be as flexible and understanding as possible. If you need to cancel your trek for any reason, here’s what you can expect:

1. More than 30 days before departure: You can cancel your trip for a full refund, minus a small administrative fee to cover processing costs.
2. Between 15 to 30 days before departure: We offer a 50% refund of the total trip cost, as we may have already incurred costs on your behalf.
3. Less than 15 days before departure: Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund as we will have committed resources to your trek by this time.
